What is the difference between a rigid truck and an articulated dump truck?

In the era of the construction industry, there are two categories of wheel off-road dump trucks which are rigid and articulated. The technology includes in each is very close. They both dump trucks followed recent tech trends by adding driver enhancements, and both do utilize similar technology, as like haul monitoring systems, telematics, and automatic braking. If you want to any dump truck from both of them for your construction work and you want to invest in this heavy equipment for sale, so first you should have well knowledge about both dump truck before investment. I discuss with you individually each dump truck.

The Rigid Dump Truck

The rigid dump truck is a heavy unit which is also known as a rigid hauler or tipper truck. This truck allows you to transport a huge amount of abrasive kinds of stuff and rocks. With the help of high capacity, it is ideal for long hauls across flat land, especially quarries and mines. The rigid truck has a fixed framework that the cab and dump body sit on, and as an outcome, the steering is based on a traditional system called rack-and-pinion steering which means is they are rear-wheel-drive. A rigid hauler is best suited to inclines of 15 percent or less but has a task life of a minimum of five years because of its ability to hold such a high capacity of stuff.

So, if you’re requiring a rigid dump truck for a job that will range from five-plus years which will easily carry huge loads and cover a large area transporting this load hence a rigid dump truck is perfect and efficient for your job.

The Articulated Truck

Now if you compared to the rigid or hauler dump truck, the articulated dump or tipper truck can handle rough and unmanageable terrain and weather restricted turning radiuses, along with lower ceiling heights, and restricted roads. The cab of this articulated truck and rear dump link up with an articulation point which is situated directly behind the cab, and this point controls the ability of the truck to pivot and allowing the truck to easily navigate which is also known as articulated steering. It also is efficiently able of keeping all six wheels on the ground through its oscillating and articulated hitch, able of working on a 35 percent incline because of the haulers' flexible suspension. The caterpillar articulated trucks are lighter compared to a rigid dump truck, with wider tires helping spread the load being carried. This hauler also has a shorter task life compared to a rigid dump truck, average range from a few days to a few years as according to its size limits what the truck is able of offering over an extended period. So, if you are looking for a tipper dump truck that is suited to rough surfaces, narrow surrounds, and is easily navigate, then an articulated dump truck is the hauler for you.
